The Beatitudes
Blessed are they who mourn (sad over the suffering and injustice they see. They are strong because they know God is always with them and show compassion by doing what they can to help), for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek (are patient and considerate, treating others with respect), for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness (to strive to be in a right relationship with God and others. They work to fulfill God’s will and to make sure everyone is treated fairly), for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the peacemakers (work to solve problems without haring anyone and to build the kind of world God wants), for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are the poor in spirit (have faith in God and place all their trust in His love for them), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the merciful (forgive others just as God forgives them and are generous and kind to others), for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart (keep God first in their lives), for they shall see God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness (do what God wants, even when others laugh at them or threaten to harm them), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
